Life is incredibly busy.  That’s a fact.  There are days we can barely keep our sanity.  Yet, as busy as we are, it’s imperative that we pause and ask ourselves these 5 questions.  I know.  It sounds counter intuitive.  But I promise you.  It’ll be well worth your time.

Stop !  Don’t put this away and tell yourself you’ll come back to it later.  You’ll never have ‘enough time’ or the ‘right time’ to do this.  Tackle one question a day … or one a week.  It’ll help you get back in touch with yourself.

Give it a go.  You never know.  It could be the start of an exciting, new journey.

1.  Do I examine my life enough ?

Most of us are too busy running from one thing to the next that we rarely stop to look, I mean, really look at our lives.  Is your life all that you want it to be ?  What areas are you happy with ?  What areas do you feel are lacking and you want to address ?  Asking these questions is like going for our annual medical.  It helps centre our attention onto important vital signs and highlight areas that need our immediate attention.

2.  Do you know what you really want from life ?

I mean what you truly, truly want from life.  Are you spending time on things that are most meaningful and fulfilling to you ?  Dig deep.  Be honest with yourself.  This is perhaps the hardest question but also the most liberating once you are truly honest with yourself.

3.  Why do you want it ?

Is your list of ‘wants’ driven by what other people think vs what you really want ?  Are you living by someone else’s rules ?  Listen to the language you use everyday.  If it’s filled with “I should” or “I must”, then chances are you’re playing by someone else’s rules.

4.  Do you know what you don’t want for your future ?

The answers probably popped into your head almost immediately.  But do you have a plan to address them; and are you putting that plan into action ?

5.  Are you prepared to fail ?

Failure is hard and humbling.  And nobody likes it.  But learning to deal with it in a positive way builds resilience and enables us to achieve levels of greatness we never thought possible.  Give yourself some time to lick your wounds.  Then, when ready, look at it objectively as learning experiences.  Feedback to help refine and improve your approach as you move forward.
