If You Use It, You Will Lose It

This is probably one of the most important take-homes I have recently learned.

It’s all very well to think, “I’ll just have a quick lunch out” or “I’ll just buy a couple of bars of chocolate at the petrol station” but when it’s gone, it’s really gone.

Making careful choices with your money is so hard! I guess there needs to be a trade–off or what we refer to as “cost benefit’”. The realisation that the cost of it will be worth doing if you really have to, or want to have it! Most of the time women justify to themselves that they can always make more money, or simply that money just is not that important…. If you consistently find yourself in this position, then please think about the following;

•Do I need this?

•Do I want this?

•How many minutes or hours would I need to work to make it back?

•Is this getting me where I plan to go financially in the future?

I often say when you find a great buy, a bargain even, still wait a couple of days and plan a trip back to the shop. If it is still there, then buy it. But only buy it. This is not always the ideal case as you might be on holiday or need a dress for a last-minute event or meeting.

But, think about this next time you open your purse and use it as a general rule of thumb. In my personal experience and what many Women have shared with me is this – They find they don’t end up going back to make the purchase…… they have convinced themselves they really didn’t need to buy it in the first place.
