You are most successful and powerful when you lead from the core of who you are. When you lead from your core, you bring out your very best and your most powerful self. That is the path to success and fulfilment.
You are most successful and powerful when you lead from the core of who you are. When you lead from your core, you bring out your very best. And when you are at your best, you are your most powerful self. That is the path to success. Best of all, it’s success as you define it.
I’m often asked what leading from the core is all about.
Leading from the core is about clarity, courage and conviction.
It starts with clarity. Clarity as to who you are, how you want to make a difference and what you bring to the table in terms of your strengths and the value you add.
When you lead from your core, you have clarity of purpose that leads you to meaningful work that you enjoy and are really good at. You prioritise career choices that lets you do more of what you love. You will choose to work in companies where the culture matches what you value and how you work best. Where you can be authentic and lead as the ‘real’ you and not feel the pressure to be someone else just to fit in.
I do not know of anyone who’s found success doing work they don’t enjoy while pretending to be someone they’re not.
Next you have to dig deep and find the courage to take action. Having clarity is one thing. Doing something with it is another. And leading from the core requires courage. It takes courage for us to stand in the space of our own power. To acknowledge that we do have more to contribute, and believe that we have what it takes.
It also takes courage to be the kind of leader we want to be. That’s where conviction comes in.
Our self belief kicks in when we operate from a place of clear purpose and strength. When we’re not questioning our decisions and our actions. When our thoughts help us move forward and not hold us back. That’s when that nasty little voice of ‘not good enough’ gets dialled down to the faintest whisper. When “I’m not good enough” transforms into “I am good at what I do. And I will get better over time”.
There are many paths to success. And all them require hard work and commitment.
When you lead from the core of who you are, your path leads to both success and fulfilment. And a high chance that you’ll also have fun along the way!
