Most of us have invested countless hours perfecting business strategies for our companies ….yet I’d daresay, many of us have not invested the same due diligence on our own lives. And who can blame us ? Who has the time and energy when we’re all so busy running from one thing to the next.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not talking about specific goals that we’re working towards. We all have those – that next promotion, that house or car you want to buy, the family you are building. All important things. What I’m really talking about is applying the same kind of strategic discipline that we use in business onto THE most important business we’re in charge of … the business of our LIVES.
How many of us have actually taken the time to develop BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals) for our lives ? The kind of goal setting that would satisfy both our hearts and minds, both our pocket book and our soul. Done the appropriate SWOT analysis, developed and followed through on strategies that will increase our success rate of achieving our life goals. I’m guessing, not many of us. Yet, when you think about it, it’s kind of ridiculous that we don’t invest at least some time against it.
So as your next business planning cycle comes around the corner …..ask yourself also, what are your life goals and what would your life strategy and plan look like ?
