What Resilience looks like to me

When you think of resilience, what image comes to mind for you?

Carol Yang

Whenever I think of resilience, the image of bamboo comes to mind.

Bamboo is strong yet flexible. It bends but doesn’t break. Highly adaptable and grows quickly.

Another image that pops up for me is a lighthouse. Again, the symbol of strength, endurance and hope.

Resilience is about –

  • the ability to bounce back from setbacks (endurance)
  • being flexible and agile to overcome new challenges (adaptable)
  • having mental toughness to handle adversity (strength)
  • and is more just bouncing back. It’s the ability to grow as result of challenges (growth)

Thinking of these traits, what image comes to mind for you?
