Finding the right role model is more about who you want to be as a leader

I think role modelling is great for learning and growth … if used properly.
The key is to find role models who emulate the type of leader we want to BE, not just by the results and success they’ve achieved, but HOW they’ve done it.
If you’re an introvert, look for role models who demonstrate quiet leadership. Quiet is not weak. Speaking less doesn’t mean you have less to say, but you do need to learn to speak up to be visible as a leader.
No one leader is perfect. Pick a few leaders whose values and style you respect to learn specific behaviours and habits you want to emulate.
Just don’t lose yourself in the process.

My conversation with Ros Cardinal as I share highlights from my chapter and insights on what it means to live and lead with clarity, conviction, and congruence.

Stepping up into a senior leadership role requires a whole new way of leading – something that catches many leaders off guard.

Being a leader is like standing in the spotlight all the time. Your decisions are scrutinised, and whether intentional or not, your day to day behaviours have an impact on your team’s morale.
